Counters

Counters are a way to track the time passed since a specific date. You can create, edit, and delete counters as needed.

Create a counter

To create a counter, you’ll need a title and a date. The date should be in the past, as it represents the starting point for your counter.

1. Choose a title for your counter

   This can be anything that helps you remember what the counter is for, like “Sober for”, “Alcohol free” etc. You can use emojis in the title.

2. Select a past date from the calendar

   This date will be the starting point for your counter, starting the count from 00:00, your local timezone.

3. Click on “Add Counter” button

   Voila! You have a new beautiful counter that will update automatically.

4. Return periodically to the counters page to check your progress

   You’ll see progress in no time!

Create a Counter

Edit counters

Caution

You can’t edit an existing counter, but you can always delete the ones you no longer need and create a new one, if you want to start over.

Delete counters

To delete a counter, simply click the “Delete” button next to the counter you want to remove. This will permanently delete the counter and its data.

Danger

Deleting a counter is irreversible. Make sure you really want to delete it before clicking the button. If you want to keep a record of your counters, consider exporting them before deletion.

Exporting counters

You can export your counters to a JSON file. This file will contain all your counters data, which you can later import back to restore your counters.

Importing counters

To import counters, click the “Import” button and select the JSON file you previously exported. The counters will be added to your existing ones. This is a fast and easy way to move counters between devices or to back them up.

Counters storage

Counters are stored in your browser’s local storage, so they will persist across page reloads or closing your browser. They will remain available as long as you don’t clear your browser’s data. You’ll have to create them on every device you want to use them on. Use the import/export feature to quickly transfer your counters between devices.

That’s the beauty of it, your data remains private and secure, as it is not stored on any server. No need to worry about your data being lost or compromised, paying for a service, or dealing with ads. Just you and your counters. It’s that simple.

Website features

There are a few handy features to help you navigate and personalize your experience when using the website.

Theme

You can switch between light and dark themes by clicking the theme toggle button in the top right corner of the page. The website will remember your preference for future visits.

Language

Currently, the website is available in English and Romanian (⚠️ work in progress). You can switch between languages by clicking the language selector in the top right corner of the page.

Sidebar navigation

The sidebar on the left side of the page contains links to all the main pages of the website. You can click on any link to navigate to that page. On mobile screens (smartphones and tablets), you can toggle the sidebar by clicking the hamburger button in the top right corner of the page.

On page navigation

Most pages have a table of contents on the right side of the page. You can click on any link in the table of contents to quickly navigate to that section of the page. On mobile screens (smartphones and tablets), you can toggle the table of contents by clicking the “On this page” button under the main navigation bar.
